PAWRS Review - Special Edition
We report from Paignton, Devon, the site of the very first annual Plant and Waste Recycling Show (PAWRS), which took place over three days (15-17 June). Continuing a long tradition of waste and recycling exhibitions at this picturesque site by the sea, PAWRS has taken over where the Chartered Institute of Waste Management (CIWM) left off, eager to build further on the reputation Paignton has deservedly earned for its annual contribution to the industry, and hoping to preserve this important annual gathering for years to come. |

| Overall it was felt that the first show was a great success, having overcome the considerable obstacles of the current economic climate to attract a steady stream of visitors from both local authorities and plant and waste contractors, a comprehensive range of exhibitors from all walks of the industry and, crucially, a grand day out for everyone.
Richard Hunt, Managing Director, has been thrilled with the positive response from exhibitors and visitors alike. Following many months of promotion across various media, all the team's preparation appears to have paid off. 'We had nearly 100% positive feedback on the Show saying how well it was organised, how friendly all the staff were, the quality of the visitors and the weather! All in all we should all be pleased,' Richard told us. |
Exhibitors we talked to were equally enthusiastic. Simon Winfield, Managing Director of Red Rhino Crushers (UK) Ltd is optimistic after several potential enquiries from both home and abroad as a result of the PAWRS show. Red Rhino has already secured two site visits for demonstrations at their premises in Grantham, which he is confident should result in the sales of machinery.
With a vast range of outdoor exhibits showcasing all the latest industry innovations, as well as a pavilion, press area and a dedicated lounge for exhibitors and VIPs, the PAWRS team and all the support staff ensured that this debut show was a unique and enjoyable occasion for all.
Given all the positive feedback, Richard is expecting an even bigger and better show next year, and plans to expand the show even further along the seafront. 'We are aiming to fill both Greens in 2010,' he said, 'as well as holding the South West Waste Recycling Forum again in the Palace Hotel on the middle day, to ensure more quality visitors.'
Paul Bicknell, Business Development Manager of BMC PLC commented; "Now that the team at PAWRS have confirmed new dates of the 8th, 9th & 10th of June 2010 so as not to clash with the moved CIWM exhibition I am delighted to offer the show our full commitment and can confirm BMC have already booked for next year. We hope to build upon this year's excellent planning and organisation of the PAWRS team and work with them in order to make the 2010 show a complete success. Torbay offers a relaxed and friendly atmosphere and is the ideal place to discuss business making the decision to return very simple."
BMC will be joining a long list of exhibitors already confirmed for next year's show, including Liebherr, Doornbos, Wheelie Bin Direct, Hammel, Geesink Norba, Hydrex, Ravo Seepers, TH White Palfinger, Hinowa, Ron Smith Recycling, Euroskips, Webb Extra Reach, Whale Tankers, WCR, Ssangyong, Berkeley Warburg, Busch Systems and countless others and of course The National Skip Hire Association.
The dates have been confirmed for next year's show as Tuesday 8th - Thursday 10th of June 2010. For further information on the event you can visit the website, www.pawrs.com. Alternatively you can call the show's team on 01962 870355 for bookings and other enquiries, or email info@pawrs.com. |
