National Skip Hire & Recycling E-News Issue 4, 20 April 2009
Welcome to Issue 4

Our survey question in the last issue……."should customers pay for their skip in advance?"…has certainly stirred up a hornets nest within the skip industry. We received many e-mails and calls regarding this, with ALL saying that customers SHOULD pay before a skip is delivered to their home.

There are obviously some pitfalls as a few companies do not have the facilities to take a credit card and are reluctant to collect cash on delivery but those in question still agreed 100% that a skip should be paid for in advance. So what can be done?Customers need to be made clearly aware from the start that under no circumstances will they receive a delivery unless they pay beforehand or have the cash for the driver.Companies that do not have the means to take a credit card we want to hear from you…..how do you get round this?

The start of April has seen two significant changes. The £8 increase in landfill tax and the new regulations regarding the disposal of plasterboard.Opinions vary on these issues and we again want your feedback on this.Is it a good thing? How has it affected your costs?Where does the extra revenue go?Is it all doom and gloom for the waste industry as many would have us believe or is there a chink of light at the end of the tunnel?Tell us your views and we will publish them in the next issue.

E-mail info@nsha-uk.co.uk or call Mark on 01206-307107 and lets put the cat among the pigeons. Please again take the time to take part in our survey and a big thank you to all those who took part last time.

Look forward to hearing from you.

Mark Williams
