SKIP PERMITS …….how much do you pay?

This really is a sore subject for skip operatives and so we decided to ring a few random Councils to see what they charged. Below are the results:

LEICESTER CITY COUNCIL …. £NO CHARGE
SHEFFIELD CITY COUNCIL …. £8 for 2 weeks
LEICESTER COUNTY COUNCIL ….. £30 for 7 days
RUTLAND COUNCIL ….. £13 for 28 days
BRISTOL CITY COUNCIL ….. £31 for 1 month
BATH & NORTH EAST SOMERSET ….. £27 for 1 month
SOUTH GLOUCESTERSHIRE ….. £50 for 1 month
MIDDLESBOROUGH ….. £14 for 14 days
BRIGHTON CITY COUNCIL ….. £12 for 7 days
HAMPSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL ….. £10.30 for 7 days
KENT COUNTY COUNCIL ….. £15 for 7 days
SURREY COUNTY COUNCIL ….. £38 for 1 month
WEST SUSSEX ….. £38  for 2 weeks
ESSEX COUNTY COUNCIL ….. £15  for 2 weeks
KENSINGTON & CHELSEA …. £26 Per day + £72 application fee!
HAMMERSMITH & FULHAM …. £27 Per day + £59 application fee!
ABERDEEN …. £20 for 7 days
STIRLING COUNCIL ….. £21.20 for as long as they want it!

This is only a handful of randomly picked Councils and as you can see there are some considerable variations in the prices that they charge.

We are receiving so many calls now from skip firms complaining about the fees that we have now decided to ask you all to email, call or write in and tell us your grievances on this matter so that we may present it to the relevant Authorities. Do you want the fees scrapped? Do you think there should be a set UK price? We really need your input and feedback to move this petition to the next stage. The NSHA is YOUR Trade Association, it’s YOUR voice and we’re here to fight your cause. Tell us what you pay and how long it takes to obtain a permit once applied for. Do you know what is done with the money generated by the Councils?

I will be emailing all skip companies to ask you to put your name to our on-line petition. If for any reason I miss anyone out please mail me on info@nsha-uk.co.uk and I will add your names to it. Help us to make a difference!
